Pre-school 3-5 years old

Experience has taught us that three and four year olds have slightly different requirements and we want to ensure that they leave for school properly prepared for the challenges which await them.

Our curriculum is set out to assist all children to attain their maximum potential within their perceived capabilities. Individual records of each child's development is maintained, showing their abilities, progress rate and areas to be taken on to the next step for learning. Staff are very aware of the importance of the correct play environment for the child taking into account individual needs, so they may develop good social skills and an appreciation of all aspects of this country's multicultural society. Planning of the learning experience by the staff is further designed to ensure, as far as practical, equality of opportunity between all children. In addition, you child's communication skills are going to be greatly improved by early contact with his, or her peers. Chapter One Childcare will also assist you in the teaching of basic social skills such as:

Moving onto school children will be well prepared for primary school and able to face it with experience and confidence.

EDUCATION

In organising a day session for your child, we think it is important to strike a balance between structure and freedom.
Children want and need the security of a structured environment that is designed to help them achieve results. You can see how pleased they are when showing you the fruits of their labour such as a

painting, a cardboard construction or a cut an paste picture; or relating how they took part in a play, a song or their favourite story of the day.Yet, children also need the freedom to explore alternatives and make their own decision about what they want to do.

So, at Chapter One Childcare we follow a structure to give children learning opportunities within play opportunities and fun activities. Parents are given formal evaluations of their child's abilities in a variety of areas which can be used to measure his, or her development.
